AKQA, London
User Experience Intern
From January 2019 until August 2020 I worked as a User Experience Intern at AKQA, London. During the 8 months I worked on some high profile accounts such Nike, Rolls Royce and BP.

Overview
During my internship at AKQA I gained experience working on numerous high profile accounts. Being an intern meant I was always paired with a senior designer when working on projects. Clients I worked with /projects I was part of included BP, Rolls Royce, VSCO, Nike and Here.
What I worked on
-
One of the most notable projects that I was part of was the redesigning of the business to consumer (B to C), 2019, Rolls Royce (RR) Motorcars website. Working with in an Agile team alongside developers, I supported the creation of the sites new future facing design system. One of my major contributions within the RR project was the generation of high-fidelity wireframe mock-ups. These were created using different use-cases and by considering the client's key KPl's. I also was responsible for building, updating and managing the interactive prototypes. The flinto prototype was utilised for user testing as well as for sharing the work in progress with the client. Having built the prototype I was heavily involved in demoing it during presentations and meetings.
Key learnings
-
Coming from a start up meant I hadn’t experienced working with external clients. This all changed when I joined AKQA due to the company being an agency. I got lots of hands on experience whether it be simply conversing with clients all the way through to delivering in person presentations.
-
Due to the scale and size of the company we had access to much more sophisticated and thorough user testing tools e.g. facial tracking
My next step:
I secured this internship as part of my universities year long Diploma in Professional Studies. It was meant to only last 6 months but in fact got extended by an addition two (up until I returned to university) due to my performance. I only left due to my university course restarted for final year. I was penciled in to return after graduating but unfortunately due to the pandemic they had a hiring freeze.
